
Las Positas College’s STEAM Complex Breaks Ground
On Tuesday, April 15, Chabot-Las Positas Community College District (District) celebrated the groundbreaking of Las Positas College’s (LPC) highly anticipated new STEAM Complex (Complex).
Project Details
The event was well attended by the community, students, faculty, District board trustees, and city, county, and state representatives. Officials shared their gratitude for all the hard work and amazing results the District has achieved, presented awards, and talked about the future of the District. This project marks the next phase of growth and pivotal development for LPC.
The Complex is a 52,600 square-foot, multi-use, two-story building complex that focuses on the educational disciplines described by its name (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math). This Complex will benefit the students of LPC with advanced learning capabilities and next generation facilities – enriching their learning experience and drive their success. The Complex will become the centerpiece of LPC campus providing outdoor and indoor common collaboration and learning areas for students. This is multi-increment project will be built within a three-year timespan to ensure that disruption to normal activities on campus is limited.
Long-Lasting Client Relationships
Swinerton Management & Consulting (SMC) is the Construction Manager on the project. Since 2006, SMC has been serving the District on various campus improvement projects – most recently delivering the Chabot College Library and Learning Connection Building. As the Construction Manager for the Complex, SMC has been involved since the project’s inception and is providing professional services including design development, construction document oversight, contract adherence, budget management, and facilities management representation. The anticipated completion and ribbon cutting of the project is targeted for 2028.
