TOWN OF LOS GATOS NEW LIBRARY

Los Gatos, CA

A new two-story, LEED Gold, 30,000 square-feet Public Library on the Town of Los Gatos’ Civic Center Campus.

The new library has more than double the space available to include adequate room for the library collections and accommodate additional collections growth factor by 10%. The new library features a technology lab, group study room, teen area, expanded children’s and storytelling area, history room, periodical/reading room with a fireplace, and meeting room.

Work was completed two phases: 

Phase I: Design and preparation of bid documents

Phase II: Construction of the Library. Additional project scope included construction of ground level parking lots, retaining walls, landscaping, and associated site and utility improvements.

Swinerton Management & Consulting provided comprehensive project and construction management services, working as an extension of the Town Staff.  Responsibilities included leading highly collaborative and successful team efforts, lead all efforts that aligned the design with the project budget, coordinated with “Friends of the Library”, Country Library and Town Public Works staff, assisted with Architect contract negotiations and let workshops and presentations with stakeholder and community.
