Cañada College in Redwood City, CA is currently under construction of their new B23 Science & Technology Building and celebrated the topping out of steel on July 3.  The new $52M building is a three story, 50,000 square foot structure that will feature modern, flexible classrooms, laboratories and faculty offices for Science education.

Supporting the philosophy that learning happens everywhere, the design will feature an indoor/ outdoor “learning commons” with an enhanced plaza, creating a functional outdoor gathering space for the campus community. The new building will also be LEED Gold certified and Net Zero Energy-ready to support student academic success and ensure the longevity of the building for many years to come. Construction is scheduled to be completed in November 2019.

Swinerton Management & Consulting is the Construction Manager for the San Mateo County Community College District (SMCCD) on their CIP 3 Capital Improvement Program.  Swinerton has served the District with Program Management and Construction Management services for 3 consecutive bond programs during the past 18 years delivering a total of over $1.3B in new construction, infrastructure and modernization projects.  The current bond initiative includes a new Performing Arts Center and Environmental Science Building at Skyline College, a Kinesiology and Wellness building at Cañada College and the Cañada Science & Technology Building.
